WULF MODS TUNDRA dry herb vaporizer is a very unique and interesting product, different than other vaporizers and vape pens we have seen in the past. Breaking away from the table as far as bulky vape boxes and tall multiple hosed vaporizers go, this is the mobile unit to check out if you have "on the go" dry, herb vaping needs.
The Box is easy to get into and is very useful for keeping your new TUNDRA nice and neat when it is not in use. The overall size of the tundra is significantly smaller than traditional vaporizers, slightly smaller than your electric tooth brush, yet more robust than a pocket style vape pen.
**Note : Keep the box! The most useful directions for me were printed on the bottom of the box, not the handout manual given in the box. You may need these.
The TUNDRA kit comes with everything you see here: One cleaning tool that, if used after every bowl, will keep your TUNDRA spotless. One mini USB charger for easy access to power. Five mouth tips for friends who are coming over. Not labeled, but it does also include 5 extra screens for your herb chamber, which is nice so that when your screen does break (they tend to), you aren't stuck with nothing to smoke out of.
In reading the instructions and trying to work the TUNDRA myself, I found it does not work like traditional vape pens, but more like a vaporizer. (Push button for heat, push again to stop when finished.) The TUNDRA once turned on, is on! You need to set your desired temperature first, then let stand for about a minute. Once the chamber is heated, the Tundra is at its optimal vaping temperature and you can hit it (just like a Volcano).
After getting to know the Tundra over time, I was able to get a desired smoking method down. Again, think of it like a plug-in vaporizer that you can hold in your hand, not a vape pen, because if you forget you packed a bowl after a few rips or think that the TUNDRA will turn off automatically, your TUNDRA will finish off your bowl for you.
Note: The Tundra does get hot, so you will need to let it cool between bowl packs.
Blue setting vapes your product at 420F and was the best temp I found.
Red light setting vapes product at 360F, and no smoke was visible. Some might like this, the taste was there, but I don't feel like you're actually utilizing the TUNDRA to get the most out of your product at this temp.
Green light setting is in the middle at 380F, and small amounts of smoke are noticeable. Again though, the only time I felt an actual effect was when it was set to blue at 420F.
Don't overpack your Herb Chamber! The mouthpiece has a screen underneath that protrudes out by about a quarter inch. When you place the mouthpiece onto the pen, it will push the product down the rest of the way.
The only part you need to change! A big plus when looking at pens that have multiple functioning parts that become dirty over time and fail.
The TUNDRA is remarkably easy to clean, which for people who vaporize a lot know is not usually the case. I used the cleaning tool every time I packed a new bowl (a little excessive, I know, but I like a clean pen) and the pen literally still looks like I just took it out of the box.
**Final thoughts - After using the pen for a month, I will say I do like it. However, it is more beneficial for a sit down session with a group, rather then an on-the-go vaporizer because of its on/off functionality. It is also more cost effective(Retail $120) than other vaporizers like the Volcano or the Pinnacle Pro. When hitting it consistently in a session (5 second breaks between hits), it performed flawlesssly for the duration of the bowl. One functionality that this vape needs is that The TUNDRA should be able to cool after one to two bowl packs. I also did not find the handheld (cordless) feature of the TUNDRA to be that beneficial, but it can be nice to be mobile with these things. The simplicity of it is almost its biggest drawback. With no quick on/off, you feel obligated to burn the entire bowl in a single sitting, not at your leisure like other current vape pens. If you don't turn it off, it will keep doing its thing. Overall, a great complementary piece to have.
**Tips - Keep it clean, Keep it cool, Remember your bowl, and enjoy!
