Smoke Hunters is filmed in front of a live studio audience. Since we were headed down to San Diego for a few shows, we decided to check on the local dispensaries and visited three.
The first stop we made was at P.B. 45 Cap. This dispensary was very inviting and the sign in process was easy. (*All of the dispensaries we visited thoroughly checked our credentials. People do get turned away for not having a recommendation, so don’t even try.)
Once inside I met several of the staff. They were knowledgeable about everything in the shop with an advanced degree in dabs and oils. After discussing a few different strains and sampling their recommendations, I settled on Valley OG Crumble along with OG Dreams. They offer 2 grams for $100. I noticed a larger presence of oils in this dispensary and would recommend P.B. 45 Cap to dab enthusiasts. The best part of visiting was the helpful staff and the dabs on site.
We tried both of the strains in a vape pen first and noticed a smoother hit on the OG Dreams. Both offered mellow to medium highs and tasted great. Once we were able to hit these via dab rig, The OG Dreams stood out once again. Highly recommended strain and dispensary. 4 out of 5 bongs.
Next we hit Planet Green on Garnet Ave. While some dispensaries are hiding in business parks, Planet Green makes no mistake in assuring you will see what they are selling. After a quick credential check, I was in their showroom and greeted by a very helpful young woman. Planet Green felt a little more "get you in and get you out," but overall it was a pleasant experience.
I was shown numerous strains and settled on an eighth of Lavender along with an eighth of OG Kush. This had a great smoke and a mellow high. First time customers receive a 5G eighth, and we took full advantage. The Lavender strain hit the best when rolled, and the OG definitely hit hard. Great smoke made up for the mundane customer experience, so 3 out of 5 bongs.
Our last stop was So Cal Holistic Health. Once again a very easy sign up process with the correct materials presented. Once inside I was greeted by a helpful young man who seemed very knowledgeable about each strain and the also the shop in general. I ended up taking his suggestion and purchased an eighth of Diamond OG. After all, they advertise “The Best OGs in the Area”.
The Diamond OG was a good smoke and lived up to its name. This was an evening smoke you could have before dinner and still maintain a conversation.
Although So Cal Holistic Health had a smaller area and less foot traffic than the other dispensaries, I felt the most welcomed and helped. This would be a great neighborhood dispensary you could visit for years. 4 out of 5 bongs.
San Diego offered some great strains and has embraced the oil market. The shops in San Diego face uphill battles regularly so it is somewhat of an accomplishment just to keep a dispensary open for longer than a month. We have to commend everyone who is fighting the good fight to get cannabis to those in need. If you have any cannabis dispensary stories you’d like to share, send them our way.
