Welcome to Smoke Hunters. We take the risks and reap the rewards of trying everything medical cannabis clubs have to offer. Check out our experience and decide for yourself if the dispensary is up to your standards. Smoke Hunters goes undercover to uncover where you should be buying your weed!
We took off across the bridge for a trip to The Green Door in SOMA. They are located on Howard, and during mid-morning on a Friday we had no trouble finding parking at a metered stop. This location is perfect if you are on your way into the city from the East Bay since it is less than 5 minutes off the freeway.
Once inside, we were greeted by employees at a reception desk. Out of all of the dispensaries we have visited, this was the quickest and easiest signup. We were offered a free pre-rolled joint or edible for being first-time patients, then we ventured onto the sales floor.
The Green Door is all about time efficiency and I can really appreciate that. I think banks and the DMV should take note of their traffic flow. All of the available strains are clearly listed on TVs above the sales associates. Everything you need to know about each strain is on its monitor, including price, available amounts, potency, etc. This is the parent store to Blum Oakland (check out our visit to Blum here) and both stores felt eerily similar.
This first room contained their flower and edible menus. There was no line and we walked right up and ordered our products.
1/8 Platinum Kush
1/8 Super Jack
1 Pre Roll (free)
1 Rice Krispy Treat Edible (free) (you can see a review of this product here)
I am not quite sure why they separate the concentrates from the flowers, but we entered another room with no glass between the associate and us. He was helpful and let us take looks at a bunch of different styles of wax.
1 G Chem Dawg melt
1 G 3 Kush crumble
Super Jack - Real nice smoke. Stronger than most of the Jack around these days. Tasted a lot like the Jack a friend sent me from Amsterdam back in the day. Nice and stoney, everyone in the In-N-Out drive thru line could definetly smell it. 4 bong hits.
Lavender - Tasty, but nowhere near as fragrant and fruity as the other versions of this strain I have come across. A nice high, but not very strong. It also lacked the lavender-colored hairs I have seen in the past. 2.5 bong hits.
Platinum Kush - Oh yeah. Exactly what I was hoping for when I read the name. Great taste, nice strong indica lung hit. Great pungent aftertaste when exhaled. For me, the Kushes will always be my favorites, and this is a killer example of the strain at its finest. 5 bong hits.
3X Kush Crumble - Very strong, fast acting and long lasting. Two thumbs up on potency. Flavor was almost nonexistent, yet nothing to complain about. Heavy mind high.
3X Kush Crumble - Again, not as strong as I was hoping, but still a decent dab. Taste wasn't quite as good as the Chem Dawg, but not bad either. The high was more like a Sativa to me. 3 bong hits.
Anthony found a preloaded pipe with shake and some hash secured on top by tin foil.
"Sooooo that little ghetto pipe thing is AWESOME!!!!! It gets u super high, and lasts forever"
This seemed like a useful tool for a house party or if you are headed to the mountains and need a good Cincinnati time waste.
Chem Dawg melt -
A little bit harsh. Fast acting and incredible flavor. Would recommend a smaller sized dab to enjoy the full flavor with out the bite. Very alert and functional mind high.
Chem Dawg melt -
Total package. Great dab. Fruity finish, smokes nice. Not really a knock-out punch though, potency wise. Still gets a 4 out of 5 bong hits.
