With eight states now having legalized the recreational use of marijuana, the amount of people who are open about regularly smoking marijuana will hopefully increase. With smoking slowly becoming more and more accepted by all people, it will be fun to see who comes out as a big advocate of marijuana. Celebrities will probably play a big role in pushing the fight to legalize it in all 50 states. Professional athletes can’t be as vocal about their use since it violates their league’s drug policy, but it would be foolish to think these athletes don’t light up. Here are some athletes who we “kinda, sorta” think smoke, especially now that it is legal in states that host professional teams.
Golden State Warriors Forward Kevin Durant
Durant first came into the league with the reputation as a good guy who was well liked by everyone. Now that he turned heel and linked up with the Golden State Warriors to add to their super team, Durant probably could care less of what people think of him anymore. Durant now lives in the most weed-friendly state of California and was caught with a prescription bottle of the good stuff falling out of his car back in 2015. I can definitely see Durant and Draymond Green enjoying some victory blunts after games.
Boston Celtics Guard Gerald Green
Now that Massachusetts is a green-friendly state, no one may be happier than the Celtics’ Gerald Green. When he was with the Miami Heat last season, Green acted strangely when he needed to be restrained by a stretcher after screaming at the top of his lungs in a lobby of a condo. Doesn’t seem like something you do when you are just drunk. Did Gerald just have a bad high? Either way, Green seems like he would like the green.
If you ever been vacationed in the Bahamas, you already know where I am going with this. Buddy Hield won the John Wooden Award and Naismith Player of the Year after a sensational season at Oklahoma. Hield was rewarded by the New Orleans Pelicans when they drafted him sixth overall at the 2016 NBA Draft. The islands probably embrace smoking marijuana more than any other location in the world, and Hield happens to be born and raised in The Bahamas and now resides in the party city of New Orleans. Hield has been in marijuana friendly environments for most of his life, making him an easy candidate for an athlete we think likes to smoke.
This is almost too easy that it shouldn’t count. Johnny Football’s laundry list of partying and basically never giving a f*uck obviously links him to weed and other drugs. His own father pleaded to the public when he said “My son is a druggie and he needs help.” For Manziel’s sake, if he only smoked weed he would probably be in a much better situation than he is now.
New England Patriots Running Back LeGarrette Blount
Blount may play for the quiet and buttoned-up New England Patriots, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to have a good time. Blount has a good thing going with the Pats and will not want to lose the trust of the great Bill Belichick, but for anyone who knows the past of Blount, he must have been a happy camper once he learned Massachusetts legalized recreational marijuana. Blount was suspended for the 2015 season opener after three-fourths of an ounce was found in a car with the Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Le’Veon Bell. Blount without a doubt likes a well-packed blunt.
