The great state of Minnesota is now accepting applications from those interested in becoming one of the state's two official medical marijuana growers. However, if the massive overflow crowd at last month's informational meeting for prospective growers is any indication, the state should not be short on applicants.
Minnesota is looking for the cream of the crop among the state's growing community. Someone that can produce a safe, reliable form of medical marijuana that is affordable and of the highest quality possible. To get this plush gig, one will have to battle through the interview process with a panel of experts in agriculture, public safety, IT, and business among other areas, making the recommendation on the cannabis supplier, with the ultimate call made by the state's health commissioner. Best of luck to those applying from TheNug. Applications will be accepted until October 3rd.
"Can they accomplish producing a safe, reliable form of medication that's affordable, that's at a high level [of quality]? That's what they need to be able to demonstrate," he tells us. "Can they do that at scale? You might be able to do that for five patients, but it's a lot different topic when you have to deal with 5,000 [or] 15,000."
Munson-Regala says" the state is expecting applications as lengthy as 200 pages, containing everything from blueprints to mock ads and business plans."
