Name: Mango Kush
Type: Hybrid (indica dominant)
Genetics: Mango x Hindu Kush*
*Genetics have been debated, but this seems to be the most common theory on the strain's lineage.
Kush is always a favorite among cannabis users, especially the "fruity" versions of the strain. They are easy to smoke, taste great, and are aesthetically pleasing as well. Mango Kush absolutely falls into this category.
Mango Kush is an indica-dominant hybrid strain with strong flavors and scents resembling the tropical fruit that it takes its name from. Mango Kush is another strain with a mysterious past with many theories about its origin. But the most likely of these theories is that the strain is a cross between Mango and the revered Hindu Kush strains.
Looks and Smell
Mango Kush's copious trichrome coverage draws immediate attention. Sporting lime green leaves and a smattering of bright neon orange hairs, these nugs are the size of mango (18" buds are not uncommon) with the density of an OG KUSH. The smell is like a vacation in a bag. Mango Kush combines the sweet aroma of the actual tropical fruit along with banana undertones with Kush's classic sour, earthy, piney notes. With just its looks, Mango Kush can entice even the most elitist smoker into giving it a try.
Mango Kush is sweet tasting as the name implies. It's a hard-hitting yet mellow smoking strain that has it all. The effects kick in immediately, blanketing the body with a strong body high all the while wrapping the mind in euphoria. The THC content was only around 16%, which was kind of disappointing, and the high only lasted an hour or two. Both factors combined to make me want to medicate more frequently than usual. But hey, all strains can't be 20%+, and the taste made the extra smoke sessions very enjoyable.
Mango Kush combines a beautiful, uplifting, Mango sativa buzz with some kind of Kush (probably Hindu Kush) to create a fantastic tasting and smelling strain with pretty nice effects. This strain is not recommended for daytime use (although I had no problems), but can work wonders on chronic aches and pains, especially joint pains. Bringing sleep to insomniacs, Mango Kush may also help fight off headaches and migraines.
The strain has also been proven effective in treating: inflammation, stress, nausea, appetite issues and anxiety. Growers like the strain for the high yields, but the plant likes to spread out and perfers large spaces, so indoor grows can be quite tricky.
For me, this strain was quite a quandry. The buds smelled good enough to eat, but I had to smoke twice as much as usual. The indica dominance was not really noticeable, but I think that was partly due to the low THC count. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. Kind of a novelty strain for the unique smell and taste. Although not the highest score I have ever given, I would recommend giving this strain a try.
