Henry Rollins took a break from his weekly ranting and musical escapades to head over to Denver, Colorado, and check out the High Times Cannabis Cup.
Although not a smoker himself, Rollins is a huge supporter and mouth-piece for the legalization and decriminalization movements seemingly popping up in every corner of the U.S., not to mention many other foreign countries as well.
Overall, Rollins wrote a glowing positive review of the event. He could have done the usual rock star thing: make a quick appearence, shake a few hands, and be out of there all within 45 minutes. But Rollins enjoyed himself so much, he stayed for the entire 8 hours of the event.
From the well behaved crowds to the clever marketing, niche products, and well thought-out slogans, Rollins and his crew even managed to get a rather noticeable contact high from hanging out in the hazy smoking section a little too long.
"In Denver, I walked around for quite a while, looking for signs of a city disintegrating from the legalization of cannabis. I could not find any. I did see a lot of young people out on dates; none of them seemed to be stoned. The restaurants were filled with sleek, good-looking people who didn't seem to be at all perturbed that, in several locations in their very snazzy city, one can purchase cannabis products. In fact, I could not detect any signs of chaos or unrest anywhere. The end didn't seem to be nigh."
