Hundreds of pro-cannabis protestors took to the streets of France this past weekend trying to rally the rest of the country to their cause. The air was electric and filled with chants of "Marie-Jeanne!" in a reference to the shared nickname for marijuana in France. The protests were spread across the nation, with the biggest of these gatherings being held in the historic Bastille Square. A small turn-out for sure, but hopefully this will be a sign of things to come in France.
"Repression dosen't work. You can't stop the people from smoking," 28- year-old Stephanie Geisler told the Le Parisien. She had come to the protest to "advance the debate."
